At RENU, we believe in celebrating excellence, and today we are proud to spotlight Patience Nagaba, who has been honored as Manager of the Year, 2024.
As the Head of Network Operations, Patience has led RENU to remarkable success. Under her leadership, RENU ended 2024 with 350 member institutions and over 800 campuses connected to the network. She achieved significant network growth while maintaining cost efficiency, with only a modest increase in direct costs.
Patience’s leadership was instrumental in the completion of key projects including; connecting 90 rural secondary schools to high-speed Internet through the partnership between RENU and the Uganda Communications Commission, and the deployment of 100+ Metro eduroam hotspots powered by RENUMESH Technologies solar-powered routers, bringing the total of off-campus eduroam hotspots to 600+ by the end of 2024, which supported over 5 million student and staff connections off-campus.
What makes Patience’s journey even more inspiring is her leadership in an organisation where over 75% of RENU’s leadership roles are held by women, setting a powerful example of empowering female leaders in tech.
