Web conferencing is a service that makes it possible to facilitate shared lectures across multiple campuses of a given university, or even across different universities. Face-to-face meetings can also be replaced by web conferencing solutions.
In April 2016, video and web conferencing were launched as a service for member institutions connected to the RENU network.
To set up meeting rooms, the interested member institution has to contact the RENU secretariat. Once the room is set up, it can be accessed by anyone anywhere in the world, without requiring sign up or opening an account, as long as they are authorised by the member institution that manages the meeting room. Access to the meeting rooms is also possible by authentication through Identity Providers (IdPs) under the RENU Identity Federation (RIF).
