On 6th October 2023, Hellen Nakawungu was appointed to the Global eduroam Governance Committee (GeGC) to represent Africa, becoming the first female to represent Africa.
Hellen Kabuubi has spearheaded tremendous eduroam initiatives that have significantly grown the uptake of eduroam in Uganda and the region, especially following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under her leadership, very innovative solutions and initiatives to adapt eduroam to Africa’s challenges have been developed and deployed by RENU. These solutions include Metro eduroam and eduroam on the Go, and they are currently supporting 10s of thousands of students and faculty to access free and secure connectivity, especially off campus.
