Prof. Michel Lejeune is the former Vice-Chancellor of the Virtual University of Uganda.
He has worked in Uganda for more than 40 years, both in social work and higher education. Previously, he lectured at various higher education institutions in Africa and in Europe including Makerere University, Fribourg University, Louvain-la-Neuve University, and Dundee University. He founded Uganda Martyrs University in 1993, a private Catholic University. In 2006, he joined the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) where he set up the Department of Quality Assurance.
In 2010, he helped to set up the Virtual University of Uganda, the first fully online university in sub-Saharan Africa. He holds a Ph.D. in Law from Louvain University, Belgium.
