At the Inception workshop, the Vice-Chancellors and Chief Executives of Universities and Research Organisations appointed a Task Team consisting of seven individuals. The Task Team and will have a lifetime of 12 months with effect from 14th January 2006 and is charged with the following responsibilities: - To facilitate specialised meetings of the three categories: Librarians, Directors of Research, and Chief Academic Officers of the member organisations so that they define areas and modalities of collaboration in the different aspects
- To consult with the legal officers of the member organisations so as to develop and table a draft instrument for the legal entity within four months, with the objective of getting the legal entity registered within six months, after due approval by the Vice Chancellors and Chief Executives of the member organisations
- To carry out the necessary stakeholder consultations and convene the Vice Chancellors and Chief Executives to approve a strategic plan as the basis for the development of a master plan and funding proposals, as well as a business model for RENU
- To engage development partners and solicit their support;
- To specifically undertake and implement activities that provide access to more internet bandwidth at lower cost for the member organisations;
- Make quarterly reports to the Vice Chancellors and Chief Executives of signatory organisations
